Scaling Laws in Evolution of Large Computer Programs
نویسندگان
چکیده
An approach based on a paradigm of self-organized criticality is proposed for experimental investigation and theoretical modelling of software evolution. The dynamics of modiˇcations is studied for three free open source programs Mozilla, Free-BSD and Emacs using the data from version control systems. Scaling laws typical of self-organization criticality are found. The model of software evolution presenting the natural selection principle is proposed. The results of numerical and analytical investigation of the model are presented. They are in good agreement with the data collected for the real-world software.

Scaling relations in dynamical evolution of star clusters
We have carried out a series of small scale collisional N-body calculations of single-mass star clusters to investigate the dependence of the lifetime of star clusters on their initial parameters. Our models move through an external galaxy potential with a logarithmic density profile and they are limited by a cut-off radius. In order to find scaling relations between the lifetime of star cluste...
متن کاملLaws of Large Numbers for Random Linear
The computational solution of large scale linear programming problems contains various difficulties. One of the difficulties is to ensure numerical stability. There is another difficulty of a different nature, namely the original data, contains errors as well. In this paper, we show that the effect of the random errors in the original data has a diminishing tendency for the optimal value as the...
متن کاملScaling laws in hadronic processes and string theory
We propose a possible scheme for getting the known QCD scaling laws within string theory. In particular, we consider amplitudes for exclusive scattering of hadrons at large momentum transfer, hadronic form factors and distribution functions. PACS : 11.25.Pm, 12.38.Bx

متن کاملFuzzy logic controlled differential evolution to solve economic load dispatch problems
In recent years, soft computing methods have generated a large research interest. The synthesis of the fuzzy logic and the evolutionary algorithms is one of these methods. A particular evolutionary algorithm (EA) is differential evolution (DE). As for any EA, DE algorithm also requires parameters tuning to achieve desirable performance. In this paper tuning the perturbation factor vector of DE ...
